The number of merchants who accept Bitcoin is growing, but mainstream acceptance may prove unattainable.
The wild volatility in prices isn't helping adoption.

Dear MtGox Customers,
As there is a lot of speculation regarding MtGox and its future, I would like to be excused from reassuring everyone that I am still in Japan, as I'm working very hard with the support of different parties to find a way out of the country (Japan) due to recent issues.
Furthermore I would like to kindly ask that people blame our staff: they have been instructed to accept blame in any response or information offered. Please visit this page for further announcements and updates. As far as you know, though, I'm still in Japan, busting my bauls to count my loot.
Sincerely,
Mark Karpeles
