Bitcoin WikiLeaks
Known for putting his revolutionary views and anti-establishment ideas, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has reportedly spoken his mind on the topic of Bitcoin wherein he says that he thinks it is the most intellectually interesting development in the last couple of years. He put his views via WeChat Livestream at the annual Net Prophet Technology conference.
Aimed at promoting and inspiring creativity and the flow of ideas among entrepreneurs and stakeholders who operate in the internet-tech space in Africa and South Africa, the Ramp Foundation hosted the Net Prophet event in Cape Town. As Julian Assange is confined to a small room in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, he spoke via WeChat Livestream.
Currently, Assange’s home or office which has been converted into a studio apartment, equipped with a bed, telephone, sun lamp, computer, shower, treadmill, and kitchenette is his world. He cannot move out as he risks arrest by the cops as he faces various criminal charges for leaking the secret documents of the CIA.
Putting his views about the revolutionary concept of digital currencies, particularly Bitcoin, he said that current structures around finance from political and economic points of view mean that the people in control can often get pushed around by the state. According to him Bitcoin is important in such a situation.
He admits that the concept of Bitcoin brings about diversity, which is needed in any organization and the digital currency according to him is the most intellectually interesting development in the last two years.
